Base Technology

The ibits suite of solutions have all been developed using the most current and stable technology. The core software has all been developed using MICROSOFT development tools - primarily Visual C++, Visual Basic and now 'dot.net' using C#. The underlying database is ORACLE 8.1.7+. The development methodology used follows the 'Component Object Model' with ibits exposing all of the underlying objects methods and properties so you can easily integrate these into your own applications.

With the advent of Microsoft's .NET Architecture all of these objects have been moved to ASP.NET and C# not only allowing their simple re-use within your own applications but full object inheritance. The base ibits WEB application server is primarily a series of IIS components however they are deployed as completely 'stateless' applications. Therefore as your demand grows you can scale the application to multiple web servers and take advantage of all load balancing technology available today.

In order to run the ibits applications the following is required:

WEB SERVER

  • WINDOWS 2000 server, WINDOWS 2003
  • Internet Information Services 5+
  • ORACLE 8.1.7. + on a separate database server - can be on any ORACLE Supported platform such as WINDOWS, UNIX, LINUX etc
  • Minimum of 2 processors recommended with 1GB of memory per server. Actual configuration will depend on number of concurrent connections
  • For the document production server Microsoft WORD and Microsoft EXCEL (2000) are also required

CLIENT DEVELOPMENT TOOLS

Only selected users will require access to the client side development tools and to implement these you will require:

  • WINDOWS 98, ME, 2000 or XP (WINDOWS 2000 Professional or XP Professional recommended)
  • 128M of RAM (256 Recomended)
  • Persistant connection to target ORACLE database
  • IE 4.01+
  • Microsoft WORD and EXCEL (2000)
